Korčula is the modern name of an island in the Croatian Adriatic with a long history of Byzantine and Venetian.

Korčula island - in translation "Black Corfu, probably for the forests of black pine, which was the material used in shipbuilding - has latimeaa length of 40 km and 6.5 km and is situated on the Dalmatian coast, Dubrovnik County -Neretva in Croatia. Korcula island archipelago belongs to the central Dalmatian Peljesac peninsula and is separated from the Strait of Peljesac. It is the sixth island in the Adriatic, in size. The highest peak is Klupca (568 m) and Kom (510 m).

The most important city on the island of Korcula. It is situated on the northeastern coast of the island, and has many tourist attractions, monuments, buildings, and hotels, cafes and restaurants. On 10 minutes away by bus, Lumbarda is a small fishing village, known for producing quality white wines but also for beaches covered with sand.

Other cities and tourist locations on the island are: Vrnik, a small island of Korcula archipelago, Zrnovo, located near the town Korkula town known for its vineyards, stone houses, churches and steeples, Racisce, fishing town (suitable for swimming and sunbathing ) Pupnat, the oldest settlement on the island, with well preserved architecture, Cara, is situated in the middle of the island, a town famous for its white wine that is grown Posip, Smorkvica, Blato, one of the largest cities on the island, Vela Luka, located in a bay.
