Korčula is the modern name of an island in the Croatian Adriatic with a long history of Byzantine and Venetian.

The highest peak is Klupca (568 m) and Kom (510 m). Mediterranean vegetation is found on the island, with extensive pine forests.
The population was 16,000 inhabitants (2001), is one of the most populated islands of the Adriatic, although this number has been dwindling over the past century.
Island's climate is mild, with average annual temperatures of 10 degrees C in January and 27 degrees C in July.

Korčula (Italian: Curzola) is a historic fortified town located on the east coast of the island. The city is worth visiting, being full of history and its evidence: St. Mark's Cathedral (built between 1301-1806) the Roman-Gothic style, the fifteenth-century Franciscan monastery-century Venetian palace to former governors, XV and XVI century palace merchants and nobles of the city's massive fortifications.
Vela Luka is located on the west side of Korcula Island, sandwiched between a bay and divided. The city, with over 2,500 hours of sunshine annually, is home to numerous museums and galleries located downtown, in the so-called Cultural Center.
City Blato is one of the oldest settlements on the island of Korcula and is located in the west in the middle of a field. Blato is assumed that the city has been inhabited since the era Romanian. The city is known for his famous sword dance, kumpanija.
