Opatija (old name: St. Jakob, Abbazia) is a popular summer and winter resort, in Croatia, Istria in the north-east, near the port of Rijeka and 84 km south-east of Trieste by train. It is situated in Kvarner Bay (Quarnero or Carnaro) Učka sheltered mountain (Monte Maggiore Vojak reach the top 1401 m) and is surrounded by beautiful woods of laurel.

The main attractions are: Volosko picturesque, old fishing villages Icici and Ika, Lovran the old center and modern hotels, and Mošćenička Meveja Honey, with large sandy beaches and medieval cities and nearby hills - Kastav, and Moscenice Veprinac.

The visit aims Angiolina Villa, dating from 1844. The city of Opatija is known for the Mrs. seagull, a statue located in the pavilion Juraj Sporer.

The old abbey, San Giacomo della Priluca, from which derived the name of the place and is situated in Svetog James' Park.
