Zadar is a city in Croatia, bordering the Adriatic Sea. Zadar is the county seat and the entire region of northern Dalmatia. Is a neighbor islands Zadar Ugljan and Pasman, which is separated from the narrow Zadar Strait. The promontory on which it was built the old city was separated from the mainland by a deep moat, which today has become a waste landfill.

Orasulului Zadar area was inhabited since prehistoric times. The oldest evidence of human life comes from the Stone Age, while many villages have been dating since the Neolithic.

The inhabitants of Zadar, called iadasinoi, were mentioned for the first time in 384 BC as allies of indigenous Hvar and as leaders of a coalition of Eastern Adriatic Greek colonists fight.
