Vodice is a town in the region of Sibenik-Knin, Croatia and the Adriatic Sea borders. At only 12 km northwest of Sibenik, Vodice is a former fishing village turned into a marina and tourist center.
Vodice historical center is small and picturesque, but the main activity takes place in port, which is crammed with restaurants and some souvenir boutiques.
There are some "beach", which are quite busy summer, but will take taxi boats to shore and Tijat insulelelor Logorun. From Vodice also can do a quick ferry ride to the islands than Prvić and Zlarin fermecataorele, where you can be absorbed satelelor quiet atmosphere of the island. Also, Vodice you can take a trip to nearby national parks: Krka waterfalls and Kornati islands.
Churches and walls are the main attractions in Vodice. A three-storey tower with original 16th century walls were kept intact. You can also admire the richly decorated Baroque facade of the parish church built in 1749 and the belfry was built in the 18th century Baroque style. Inside, the Holy Family on the main altar painting is remarkable and is the work of anonymous artists of the XVII-XVIII. West of downtown is small church of the Holy Cross built in 1662.
Vodice was first mentioned in 1402, although it was founded in Roman times as Arausa. Its name comes from the word meaning water sources which means that provided for the entire area. The defense walls from the Turkish times, the tower Corici testify times past. Other similar monuments are the church of St. Cross on the former graveyard, built in 1421 and the parish church, built downtown in 1746. Okit On the hill nearby, the Turkish invasions, refugees founded a settlement and Lady of Mercy Chapel, built in 1660.
Vodice is a very popular tourist destination in Croatia, with most of the population oriented towards tourism, offering accommodation for visitors in hotels, apartments and houses. Vodice has a variety of beaches with sand and gravel. Famous Hacienda Night Club is a club in Vodice. Vodice is the birthplace of famous playwright Brešan Ivo.
