Smokvica has several fertile fields bearing the name of Krusevo, Prapratna, Stiniva, Banja, Sitnica, Livin Dol and Cipojino polje. The village on the Brna coast is part of the Smokvica municipality. Over 70% of the area of the municipality is forested land. About 250 hectares are dedicated to vineyards with about two million vines. Another 144 hectares are olive groves with 176,000 olive trees. The origin of the name Smokvica is not fully understood. It is understood that it may have come from the Latin Latin language, which means paths. Smokvica has been inhabited since ancient times. Numerous ancient pottery remains have been found in the area. Especially ancient Greek and Roman vessels and olive oil.
