Gradac is a tourist resort near Makarska, halfway between Split and Dubrovnik.
The population is involved in agriculture, fisheries, fruit growing and, more recently, tourism and catering.
Even though the Gradac area was inhabited since ancient times, it was first mentioned as an urban settlement in 1649. Today it is a famous tourist destination, with all the necessary tourist facilities.
A number of beautiful beaches are located in Gradac, ideal for swimming, beach or relaxing under the shade of the 100 year old pine trees. The most popular beach is Gornja Vala, which is at the same time the longest beach in the Makarska Riviera.
Numerous archaeological discoveries have been made here, which attests to its past from the Roman era, the Middle Ages to the present.
Among the tourist objectives were: the Baroque Church (located in Podaca, built in the eighteenth century), the preromantic Church of St. Ivan (located in Podace, built in the twelfth century and has valuable details of the period), as well as and the Baroque Church of St. Mihovil (built in 1852, with three marble altars and an old wooden statue of St. Roko, as well as a stone baptistery), stone fort (created in the 17th century around which there are remains of authentic abandoned houses), as well as numerous other sites.
Gradac has recreational and sports offers. Tourists can enjoy tennis, table tennis, mini golf, water polo, fitness, diving, sailing, water skiing, jet skiing, beach volleyball, soccer, basketball and many other activities.
All types of interesting trips are available in Gradac, both within the resort and to the surrounding islands. For those interested in enjoying the specialties and delicacies of this region, they can visit the restaurants "Nicolo Polo" and "Marinero No 1", as well as the tavern "Nase malo misto".
