Cres is an island in the Adriatic Sea in the north of the Bay of Kvarner. The island is largely mountainous and elongated, with a length of 66km and width between 2 and 12 km. Together with the nearby island of Losinj, Cres was the largest single island, and now the two are separated by a narrow channel over which a bridge is built.
