Ciovo Island is located in Central Dalmatia and is connected by a bridge to the shore, and now is near the historic town of Trogir.
Ciovo Island was inhabited even in Roman times and during the Middle Ages there have been some small villages. Being mostly of stone, and here are some caves, the most famous being Bilosaj and Anicina Jama (pit Ana). Island seems an extension of Trogir and offers many beautiful beaches and various historical monuments.
There are smaller towns in Ciovo: Slatina, Arbanija, Zedno, Okrug Gornji and Okrug Donji. On the western side of the island are sand and gravel beaches, the largest being those in the Gulf Saldun. smaller coves include Duga, and Movarstica Tatinja. Along the southwest coast are several smaller islands (Sveta Fumija, Kraljevac, Galerija, etc.) whose cliffs offer good opportunities for underwater fishing. On the east side of the island are smaller beaches, around Slatina Supetar Cove.
The island is covered with pines, olive trees, wine grapes and herbs. The northern part of the island is interwoven with several beaches, while the southern side of inaccessible cliffs. There are six small islands on the west side of the island. Due to its location, connected with the town of Trogir, overlooking the Bay of Kastela, and only 2 km from Split, it has become a destination for many tourists.
