The city developed around the sixteenth century castle, old town was named Stari Grad. One of the main attractions of the city (Novi Grad) is Frankopan seventeenth-century Renaissance castle. Renovations and changes have transformed the eighteenth-century castle
in the residence. One of the biggest events taking place in Kraljevica Frankopan is called Summer, and is a cultural event which takes place at Castle Frankopan.
